Charlotte Mason writes, "Education is a life, that life is sustained on ideas; ideas are of spiritual origin, and God has made us so that we get them chiefly as we convey them to one another, whether by word of mouth, written page, Scripture word, musical symphony, but we must sustain a child's inner life with ideas as they sustain his body with food."
Our desire is to build and foster a thriving Charlotte Mason school community. We encourage our families to join a Charlotte Mason reading group; we require this of our staff. We also encourage parents to be involved in the school by joining us for lunch, attending field trips, and volunteering as a sub.
Our goal is that our mornings together fit seamlessly into your Charlotte Mason homeschool week. The subjects that have been selected are ones that are ideal to implement in a classroom setting with a group of students. Many subjects that only occur once a week can be checked off of your weekly schedule.
In the lower forms, most lessons can act as a complement to your own Charlotte Mason curriculum or be integrated into your current lesson structure.
In the upper forms, additional work will be completed at home. Parents will need to work in conjunction with LEA to make sure that subjects and work carries between home and school.
Following the guidelines set forth by Ms. Mason, we aim to keep our lessons short. In lower forms, most lessons are 20 minutes. In the upper forms, some lessons can stretch to 40-45 minutes. Our teachers also work diligently to provide an environment that respects the personhood of each student.
Our teachers have passion, expertise, training in the Charlotte Mason philosophy and methods, and a deep love and care for children as born persons.
We encourage parents who have a passion for subjects or topics that are being taught to reach out to us.
